Color Throwdown Wednesday

It's Color Throwdown Wednesday! My favorite day of the week. This week, the amazing Kristin is our hostess and our design team are all using stamps that Kristin design for My Time Made Easy called Sentimental Occasions and Occasional Labels AND I'm also using the BEST digital paper Kristin has ever designed it is by far and wide my fave of all time and it's called Fresh Cut Expressions 2 which just happens to by the inspiration for this week's color palette. More on all this fabulous stuff in a minute...let's have a look at the colors... oh and there's a prize again this week! Read on!

Kristin made this card a few weeks ago and I literally couldn't WAIT to get my paws on this paper. Funny enough, my printer made everything a little more pastel-ish than the swatch this week, or more muted I should say so I just went with it. Here's what I designed using the Fresh Cut Expressions 2 digi papers and the Sentimental Occasions and Occasional Labels stamp sets:

I had a horrible afternoon on Monday. I had an argument with someone (not my hubby) and they made me feel like P.O.O.P and my mom had my back 100%. NOW, this doesn't always happen. Mom will usually tell me where I was wrong and let me see the error of my ways, but instead she told this person they were crazy and that they needed to apologize to me. Later that night, I went up to make this card and new instantly I wanted to make something for mom for Mother's Day and how pleased was I when I saw that I could create a "My Best Friend" sentiment with this fabulously designed set from Kristin and MTME. I was so excited and got right to work!

I stamped the gingham label from Occasional Labels in So Saffron and the inset oval in Crumb Cake ink. The decorative flower was stamped off in Certainly Celery and Friend stamped in Cameo Coral which better accommodated the muted tones of my papers. Then I just cut it out by hand which literally took one second :) What's really cool about this design is the eyelet ruffle. It's actually a vintage scrap from my Grammy's basement. (I swear I'm going to open a vintage findings shop and call it My Grammy's Basement!)(I should copyright that!! HAhahaha) She made about a billion pillows for our couches and chairs and such as I was growing up and somehow this eyelet trim was always on them somewhere. It was a really cool find, took me back and I think my mom will think it's a really neat keepsake.

I tied on some coordinating baker's twine, buttons, did some stitching added some pearls and called it done! I think mom is really going to appreciate this card!

I have to tell you, I am totally in love with these stamp sets. There are a bajillion sentiments you can create and the labels are the PERFECT focal point for your projects and I don't know about you, but I find it easier to create when I have a beautiful sentiment focal panel. Everything just seems to fall into place.

Please visit the My Time Made Easy web site to check these sets out for yourself. I think they're a fabulous addition to any stampers collection and I am SO glad I have them in mine.
