Color Throwdown Wednesday!!

Good morning and welcome to Color Throwdown Wednesday!! Today is a special day! Now that the Summer is over we are all back together as our full group on regular basis! Thank you to Keva Brown and Lori Tecler for filling in over the Summer as our guests who brought you some splendiferous creations!

We also have a very special Guest Designer for September. Please welcome Julee Tilman!

This week colors are really neat and I didn't have the faintest idea what I was going to do with then until I saw our swatch and they screamed little boy card to me. Have a look.....

My little boy starts pre-school this Friday so I thought it would be really cool to make him a little something to tuck into his snack bag for his first day. I watched a video on the Hero Arts blog this week which totally inspired me. It's called the floating window technique and you can see it HERE. Essentially, there is a window cut in the front of your card and your image floats in it and I think it's so cool!

Have a look at what I did for my little guy....

I used this fun set from Waltzingmouse Stamps and some fun papers a My Mind's Eye pad from Lime Twist called Out of the Blue. I really really need to place a Stampin' Up order!! I have none of the new papers AND I'm out of Not Quite Navy which would have been a nice substitute but I made do! I used my Copics but just did some quick coloring to add vibrant color. I haven't used my Copics in a LOOONG time, but I foudn that when I didn't fuss to make it exactly perfect I actually enjoyed the process more!

I think this is such a fun and pretty quick little card to tuck into a lunch or snack and I just love the coordinating sentiment AND the font they're written in...GUSH!!! What's really neat is that when you open this card the floating image moves with the front of your card to reveal your message written underneath.

Please take a few minutes to head on over to the Color Throwdown Blog to read up on how you can make your own card and join our challenge this week AND please head on over and visit our designer's blogs...

  2. Absolutely adorable, Laura! That image looks so much like Lizzie Anne Designs... :( Miss those sweet girls, and will have to go check this out at Waltzingmouse in case one of them is stamp designing there now. If so, YIPPEE! Um... I'm rambling, aren't I? ANYWAY - I hope your little guy feels special when he sees this; I know he's going to LOVE it! :)
