Pixie Petals is Our Sponor Today!

Hi and happy Wednesday! I'm here today with a project for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge and it's a special day as we have a generous sponsor, Pixie Petals! Pixie Petals is an on-line/ETSY store that sells such pretty accents for cardmaking scrapbooking or just about any craft you can dream up. One lucky challenge participant will receive a $10 voucher good towards your purchase from Pixie Petals! Isn't that generous!!
Pixie Petals has this really cool vintage-y, shabby-chic vibe that I love! I don't necessarily gravitate toward that style in my own crafting, but not because I don't LOVE it, because I'm kind of afraid of it! But having these embellies to work with really helped me with the look I wanted to achieve and made it SUPER easy. I especially love their crochet flowers(called pixiepetals), which were generously donated today by our sponsor for me to share with you!
First, our colors.....

And as you can see I added in a bit of yellow! Not only did it work well with my design but I really wanted to work in the yellow flower that was sent to me. So this is what I came up with...

I started with my October Afternoon Thrift Shop papers which I got from I Heart Papers. I added in a cork border using my NEW small scallop border die from MFT and a Ripe Avocado felt border using my NEW Large Scallop border die from MFT. Yes, I treated myself to some new goodies. Once I was done layering my borders and paper strips together I secured them with some stitching and layered them on a Dusty Durango panel to bring in more orange.
I then got to working with these beautifully handmade crochet flowers which I have actually never used before and am about to go buy a whole bunch because I LOVE THEM! LOVE I SAY!! To the center of the orange flower I added a red gingham covered brad also from Pixie Petals as well as some of the Wistful Ribbon in Martini Olive from Pixie Petals that I folded into my flower petals. The centers of the yellow and red flowers are buttons from PTI secured with jute button twine.
Ok, so now I needed a sentiment! And I didn't know what exactly I wanted this card for so I busted out my Sentiment Flags die and stamp set and got to work. I have 5 of these dies and it's great because I can cut multiple flags at once so I can mix and match borders and sentiments for projects all at once. Nice! So I made a couple...the one pictured here uses the stitched border in Dusty Durango ink and Get Well Soon in Ripe Avocado ink. I made a Happy Birthday and a Congratulations in the same ink combos and will use whichever flag for whatever purpose arises first. I love that about this set!! For more info or to purchase Sentiment Flags, please visit my shop HERE!
Ok, so now I'm totally IN LOVE with Pixie Petals. I loved working with the crochet flowers and wistful ribbon SOOOO much. I can't wait to head over and pick out a few little treats for myself and you should too! Click HERE to head on over with me and shop!
Don't forget to play along this week! Please visit the Color Throwdown Challenge blog for more inspiration from the dream team :) and here are their blogs so you can head to them and leave some love!
