Happy New {Color Throwdown Challenge} Year!

I'm so happy to be back in the swing of our Wednesday Color Throwdown Challenges! Welcome back, Everyone!

I have to say, this was the best Christmas I ever had with my family. Seeing how much my son enjoyed Christmas this year was truly the best present ever! I'm looking forward to a happy and healthy new year!

Today, Tammy is our hostess and she's picked a great bunch of colors for us to play with.

As an added welcome back bonus, our very own digi paper designer extraordinaire, Kristin Bueter, has designed a really cool set of papers using this week's colors for ALL participants to use and enjoy and to help get your mojo back in gear. Click HERE to download.

I saw Kristin's papers and I knew immediately what I was going to do with them, but I just couldn't pull it together for some reason. I think I got lazy over this Christmas break :) So I scrapped everything and started over again and this is what I ended up with.

I actually really like the simplicity of this card. I started with a piece of cream cardstock and stamped my Mums image in Cameo Coral and distressed the edges with Vintage Tea Dye ink. Then I made this ribbon-ended, button strip by stamping it with a text background and using craft dots to adhere my buttons. Then I stamped my sentiment in artichoke.

I tried adding visual interest by adding some stitching and by having a kraft base peeking out at the top and bottom, but slightly smaller than my focal piece. This was literally a scrap on my desk that I picked up and thought looked cool.

I'm actually very happy with the end results of my card but unfortunately it's one that looks better in person than in its photo. I hate it when that happens!

Anywhoo, I'd love to see what you create with this week's colors! Head on over to the Color Throwdown Challenge blog and upload a card or other paper-crafted project using the link service provided! Remember, this is for FUN! If you don't have one of the colors please feel free to sub with something similar....OR ADD KRAFT LIKE I DO EVERYWEEK! I have a problem! But the first step is admitting it, right?

Please take a few minutes to visit the blogs of my fellow design team members AND help me welcome January's Guest Designer, Lori Tecler. I'm a HUGE fan of Lori's work. I think her clean and simple ways are the BEST! You can visit her blog HERE for some great inspiration.
