Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge!
I'm back with a project for this week's Timeless Tuesday Challenge! This week Makiko is our hostess and she has challenged us to use buttons in our creation.
As I sort of hinted at last week, my collection of Flourishes is definitely thinner than I would like. So it was a REAL challenge looking at the sets I have and then thinking of a creative way to use buttons. As I was sifting through my button collection I came across these cute flower buttons in different colors that I didn't even know I had and a lightbulb just sort of went off in my head and I immediately drew a sketch and made some notes on my ideas and wrote in big letters "Use Home Tweet Home set!"
Here's my finished project....
I started out by stamping this beautiful branch image in chocolate ink and colored it carefully with Copics as it's stamped in water based dye ink. I cut my image out added it to my stitched and texturized kraft layer, added buttons and embellishments and started to work on my birdhouse and sentiment.
I had fun hanging the birdhouse from the branch. Using a piercing tool I simply poked a hole where I wanted it to hang from and put my twine through and secured it on the reverse side with tape. I added a mini glue dot to secure it to the front and then just added in my little twine bow.
I tried my hand at a many-layered baker's twine bow for my button/ribbon treatment. Umm....This was no easy feat for me. I found that wrapping my twine around two fingers and thenwrapping extra twine around the center was the easiest for me. I tend to over think things and make them more difficult than they really are so I'm sure there is an easier way, but this worked and my loops were even enough to satisfy the perfectionist in me.
After I was done putting everything togehter, I looked at my card and thought, gee my sentiment says home tweet home but I have no bird on my card anywhere so I quickly grabbed this sweet birdy image, colored him and perched him on top of my sentiment panel. Tadaaaaah!
We have friends that just purchased a new home and new neighbors directly behind us so I am going to make another card just like this and give one to each! Fingers crossed I have enough of these buttons left....where did I get these? Hmmm......
Well, I hope you've enjoyed my project today and I hope you're inspired to pick out a set and incorporate buttons in a fun way! Want to see more?
