Hoppy Birthday with Chicken Girl Designs

I made this card today using Birthday Wishes from Chicken Girl Designs available only at I Heart Papers. I also used my my new Stella and Rose papers from My Mind's Eye which I also got from I Heart Papers. This is the Mabel collection. These Stella and Rose papers have not left my desk and they won't anytime soon!

You likey? I made a medallion for my little hoppy bunny to sit on and I added in the balloon image from the set and added in his party hat which he's *borrowing* from the elephant stamp in the set. This set is fun like that...easy to mix and match images. I really like having this set in my collection because it's got a GREAT belated birthday sentiment and all of the images are just so super cute.

Oh My It's Chicken Girl!!!

For those of you who stop by here you know that I have an obsession with Chicken Girl Designs from I Heart Papers! I can't believe how long it's been since I whipped out these puppies! Shame shame shame!!

I bought the new Stella and Rose papers from My Mind's Eye at I Heart Papers and I was looking at them today and thought that the Hattie pack would make a great *mancard* (I vote we add this word to the dictionary, BTW)! So I busted out my Silly Monsters set from Chicken Girl Designs, available exclusively at I Heart Papers and I went to work!

Isn't this fun? I think it's also hilarious to tell someone they're monstrously old too! A fantastic sentiment I think! Lemme tell you something about Chicken Girl's images.....if you're a novice with the Copics, or you fake it till you make it like I do, I actually find these images easy to color and FUN!

Oh and check out my twine.....It's actually just plain ol' hemp twine and I dyed it using a Copic marker so that it would match my project!

Color Throwdown Wednesday!

Hello All!! I'm here because it's Wednesday and it's my favorite crafty day of the week!! This week it's my turn to host the Color Throwdown Challenge and I've chosen a fun and versatile palette of colors that can either be fun or elegant. And seeing as how I really need to get moving on my Halloween cards I thought this was the perfect opportunity to knock a few more things off my to do list.
Let's see those colors....

And here's what I did with them...


I decided to make a couple of tags for Halloween. I started by using Happy Halloween from Chicken Girl Designs from i heart papers. I love love love me some Chicken Girl and thought these were some really adorable images for this holiday. I decided to make tags because usually every year I make candy for Halloween so these will be the little taggies to dress up the candy for the little girls that live next door that we love and play together with all the time.
It was my intent to take photo of my candy all bagged up, but sadly, they came out TERRIBLE! The worst batch I ever made and so..... we ate them all as they weren't suitable enough for gift giving. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!

Ok, so I started with a manila tag which I covered in some decorative papers from the Matilda collection from Cosmo Cricket available from i heart papers. I created my *moon* by cutting out two nested circles and running the saffron layer through my argyle texture plate. I cut out my focal image and glued her to the moon, added a few more easy details and viola!! I love how these turned out and I was reminded of how much I LOVE making tags. They're quick and simple and can be used in so many ways!

Day Two: Chicken Girl Release Day!

Here I am again as promised with a project made using the Meowy Christmas image from Chicken Girl's October collection available only at I Heart Papers! Here's a peek at the entire collection:

I have to be honest, I was planning to use the Meowy Christmas sentiment as well, but my paper jammed in my printer and it's late because I'm Last Minute Laura and with my son's room across the way it will cause too much commotion to fix, so a wintery birthday wishes it is! HA! Happy accident, though, right?!
Anywhoo, my colors were inspired by the Mitten Weather collection from October Afternoon which I also got from I Heart Papers. I really love this combo of plum and aqua!
My layout uses this week's Sketch For You To Try from Jen del Muro.
Oh I just love this little Meowy Christmas image! It was so fun to color and work with! I couldn't believe I was coloring hats and mittens and punching out snowflakes this early. So I added in some of my favorite details as of late; a pleated stitched border! And of course ribbon, but this time it's accented with a kraft button which I die cut from a Sizzix button die that I've had but don't think I've ever used and I threaded it with some of my new baker's twine in this lovely almost aqua green. Of course I squeezed in a Sentiment Flag die and stamp! You can check out my new die and stamp set HERE. I am loving this flag die and stamp set! I think you will too!

On a sad note, this will be my last release as a member of the Chicken Girl Design Team. I can't believe six months has gone by! I have to first thank my dear friend Tammy Hershberger for recommending me to Kate Baldwin for her design team and to Kate for welcoming me onto the team and for her generosity as well. Whooo's Ready for Fall?

Apparently not me based on my color palette here, ha! Isn't this a great image for Fall? It's from Chicken Girl Designs' September release available exclusively at I Heart Papers. You can pick up a copy of this digi image for only $2.50 or the entire collection for $8.50. Such a steal for all these cute images.

To make this card, I first colored my image with Copics which I got from I Heart Papers to coordinate with my digital papers from Cosmo Cricket called Nutmeg. Available HERE at Jessica Sprague's site. Fabulous fall papers in fun colors! I just discovered a small selection of digi papers from them. I didn't know Cosmo Cricket did digi papers but was excited to discover them! Then I decided to use this week's Sketch for You To Try from Jen del Muro for my layout! Of course, I've adapted it a tad to fit my needs, but all the elements are there, I think! Love Jen's sketches!

I added in some pleated paper, stitching, buttons and a SENTIMENT FLAG!! No big surprise there! I can't help myself. I think the die just makes for the cutest way to add a sentiment to projects I reach for it almost every time now. Here I printed my sentiment from Chicken Girl in brown text (modified in Word) directly onto Blush Blossom card stock and cut it out with my Sentiment Flag die. I love that I don't have to cut the ribbon tails. If you don't already own Sentiment Flags, click HERE to read more about it or get yours today! I think everyone should have these products and not because I designed them....because I love them and you will too!

Happy 10th! It's Chicken Girl New Release Day!

Talk about a drive by month! August was here and gone in a flash! It's time for another fabulous release from designer Jannie Ho, Illustrator of Chicken Girl Designs available exclusively at I Heart Papers. Check Out the September Collection:
I chose to work with the Witch Eye Brew image because I thought it would pair well with the Matilda paper collection from Cosmo Cricket which is also available at I Heart Papers.
I paper pieced the witch's clothes and colored everything else to match on vanilla card stock and chose to keep my layout simple with a coordinating paper from the Matilda pack and a textured background. Isn't she cute? I love her in these plaid robes. Printing on vanilla really warmed this up to match nicely with the muted tones of this paper pack.
I added in a little eggplant ribbon stapled to my card and tied off with twine. Everything is on a kraft base, but of course it is. My name is kraft practically!
Anywhoo, it's been a week loaded with computer problems (I'm on a loaner). Later today I have a little surgery thingy. No biggie, a few stitches. I'll live! And this weekend Keith and I are going to see a band we love and are staying overnight, NO BABY! I know! We never get out so this is huge. Hopefully, it will be a FUN end to a tough week!

It's Chicken New Release Day!!!!

Yayyyyy! It's Chicken Girl Designs release day!! Here are this month's crop of fabby new and cute images available only at I Heart Papers:
Lookin' Purrty, On The Moove, Dreaming of You and Just Lion Around

I chose to feature Lookin' Purrty for today's release and here's what I did with it:


I immediately pulled out my Olivia papers from Basic Grey which I got from I Heart Papers and immediately paper pieced kitty's dress in this pretty plaid paper. Looking at it I thought hmmm....this reminds me of something and then it hit me. My friend and fellow design team member, Tammy Hershberger, did a design where she paper pieced a dress with this paper and when I found her card I chose to case it because it was one of my most recent faves of hers. You can see Tammy's original card HERE. I just loved this design so so much and her layout is spectacular and totally inspired me to try my hand at it only changing up the sentiment panel and subbing the ric-rac border for one made with my jumbo scallop punch.
I colored my image with Copics after paper piecing her dress, added some glitter to her crown as well as some rhinestone jewels and some crystal effects to her mirror for shine. Isn't she just ready for her party?!!!

You're A Great Catch & A Giveaway!

Here to share this lil' ditty I've been working on. It features this cutie image from the Chicken Girl July release called Gone Fishing available exclusively at I Heart Papers.



I colored my image with Copics also from I Heart Papers and I added the *water* using an EK Success border punch and some pop up dots and added my sentiment panel to the water using a Sentiment Flag in Pear Pizzaz and a lemon tart button with linen thread. I texturized my background with my linen/canvas texture plate and added some decorative plaid paper to the top and bottom from the Happy Camper collection from Cosmo Cricket. I should mention I customized my sentiment to say : You're A Catch" as I plan to use this as an anniversary card...like it?

More Fun & Cute with Chicken Girl

Here's a little fun and cute card I made over the weekend (I got some much needed stamping time in on Saturday!) using a really cute stamp set from Chicken Girl Designs called Into the Forest. You can grab your copy on sale for $5 exclusively at I Heart Papers HERE! I made this for the Moxie Fab Fun&Cute challenge which you can read more about HERE. Have you had a chance to look through the entries? There is so much good work over there! Even though I know I don't stand an ice cube's chance on a hot day, I'm still going to link my work that fits the categories between now and the deadline. WHY NOT, RIGHT?!

I started with this Wood grain patterned paper from A Muse and thought it would be really fun paired with images from this stamp set. I stamped my images in a scene in brown ink and colored them with Copics adding in some red brads as apples on my tree. I cut out my scene using my Top Note die from SU!, trimmed the edges and made a mat layer using my Ledger Pad paper from Making Memories. I added in a ribbon, twine, button and a sentiment and called it done. Oh but I did add in a little grass stamp and cloud stamp too! They are also from Chicken Girl designs, but from a set called Hugs from A Bug. This set is on sale too! Check it out HERE.

Chicken Girl, Re-Visited

Fun With Chicken Girl!

Hey, Peeps! I am back with a project I made using this sweet Pig Balloon image from Chicken Girl Design's July release from I {Heart} Papers!


I colored it way back when I originally received this crop of new releases and then I noticed it cordinated with my new Olivia papers from Basic Grey which I ALSO got from I {Heart} Papers!
I started with Not Quite Navy...I had some still kicking around on my desk from the CTD this week and I added in my Olivia papers along with some scalloped borders, stitching, textured background and some Old Olive ribbon which I tied with some Marina Mist ribbon instead of tying a traditional knot. Just a fun little design I thought you might like to see today!
Hope you're enjoying your day. Big Keith is home today, so I went to work for a bit and now I'm going to hang with my boys in the backyard! Fun Fun!

It's Chicken New Release Day!!!!

Hi Everyone! Today is July 10th and therefore it's Chicken Girl release day! Check out this new set of images for July! Pig Balloon, Out of This World, Gone Fishing, and Blast Off!
Chicken Girl Designs are available ONLY at I {Heart} Papers HERE. You can buy each stamp individually OR the lot for a reduced bundled price. Every month I say "this is the cutest release to date" and this month I REALLY MEAN IT! I know I'm looking at good images when card ideas just start popping into my head. I can't wait to share some of my other ideas with you over the next few weeks. I hope you will run, not walk, to I {Heart} Papers to pick up these fabulous images!

For my card, I used this week's past sketch from Splitcoast Stampers, SC288. As soon as I saw it, I thought the circle layer would be PERFECT for the "moon" behind my cutie rocket. Whatta ya think? I colored my image with Copics, which I got from I {Heart} Papers and I used decorative paper from a stack I got at TJ Max for $3! It's called Twirl and it's from We R Memory Keepers. It's a great stack! My kraft layer is textured with the linen/canvas texture plate from Papertrey Ink. It's a must have! I added the sentiment to a star punch and also embellished with a ribbon and button with twine and some stitching. I added in some slivers of vellum on the top and bottom just to give my background a little more oomph!

Stopping By With Chicken Girl Designs

Hello! I have been working on this card for several days now for 5 minutes at a time! It's been so hot in my craft room I can barely stand to stay in there, HA! So I just wanted to stop by and share this card with you because I love the image so much. It's called Sizzling Good Time from Chicken Girl Designs available only at I {Heart} Papers!


I colored my image with Copics and used this past week's SCS layout challenge SC286. I added in a cow print background stamp from Pink Cat Studio as well as some Real Red-tinted linen thread. I wanted to stay with a masculine feel. And did you notice I added "eat chicken" to his apron? Aahahahha! I thought it was definitely called for!

Another with the Chicken Girl June Release!

Hello and happy Monday! I had some time over the weekend to get a lil crafting done! We had an electrician at the house all day Saturday so Keithie went to my mom's for the day which left me at my craft table! So nice!
So I whipped up a little something using one of the new June release images from Chicken Girl Designs called Sending Some Love available at I {Heart} Papers.


I colored my image with some of my new Copics which I also got from I {Heart} Papers and cut it out with my Labels One dies and layered it on some Girl Friday papers from Cosmo Cricket and a scalloped border and added a little ribbon as well.

It's Chicken Girl Designs New Release Day!!!

Man, o-man, o-man have I been dying for this day to arrive so I can share the Chicken Girl June collection with you!! I just about squealed with delight when I saw this new crop of digi stamps. Check em' out. They're just the cutest!!
World's Greatest Dad, Sending Some Love, New Home, Sizzling Good Time.

Instantly, I knew what I wanted to make when I saw these, but this isn't it! HA!! I have something in the works for another card but I decided to hold off because I REALLY wanted to make a Father's Day card. I only have 2 made and I need a third and Father's Day is RIGHT around the corner and I couldn't resist this fantastic image! So here's what I did...(not sure why my card uploaded so small, but you can click on it to see a larger version if you like)


I printed out my World's Greatest Dad image and colored it with a lot of my new Copic markers which I just picked up from I {Heart} Papers! Yay, they sell Copics AND Chicken Girl Designs stamps! LOVE!
I colored my image to match this stripe-y/plaid paper from Cosmo Cricket which I thought was good for a masculine card. I decided to paper piece Dad's shirt to match my paper. I love peicing digi images. Even if you only have a scrap of paper to use, you can tape it to an 8.5 x 11 piece and run that through your printer by just puting the image on the screen where it should print.
I let the image shape determine the shape of my card and went with a tall card which I don't do often enough at all! And I just added in some coordinating borders and paper piercing to really make the image center stage and keep it manly! Isn't this a fantastic image for Father's Day? It was soo fun to color too!

Now, I know a little cherry popped in there, (how'd that get there??)but I really loved this striped and glitter embellished paper. I had to use it!!! My layout is this week's Taylored Expressions sketch challenge, TESC114. Don't you love it? I will use this one again and again!! I used two pieces of Stampin' Up! ribbon to make that under layer.
